I have been staying here for more than a year on business trips I am always look forward to come back. Annette and Craig are both warm and friendly and ready to make me feel at home. Anchorage is a real treasure, amazing place to rest, enjoy the view and breathe in the fresh air. I know I will be back

"Delightful Haven"

We felt so welcome and relaxed in this beautiful safe haven and wished we had booked for longer! An excellent new find for experienced SA travelers. Annette and Craig are superb hosts, nothing is too much trouble. The accommodation is fresh and spacious, meeting every need. Breakfasts are good. The view is lovely, perfect as you sit out for a quiet read or an amusing moment as a family dog silently encourages you to play! The swimming pool is a real bonus. Overall this is far more that the usual place to stay.

"Très sympathique"

Annette et Craig sont absolument charmants, prêts à vous aider pour vous trouver un restaurant, une plage, une visite à faire. Les chambres sont super clean, spacieuses, bien équipées. 
La situation juste devant la rivière est étonnamment reposante . La piscine permet de se relaxer dans une ambiance chaleureuse.

"Zehn Tage am Goukou River"

Durch Zufall stießen wir auf das liebevoll geführte kleine B&B. Es liegt beschaulich und ruhig, keine 100 m vom Flussufer entfernt. Die Zimmer sind hell, groß und sehr freundlich gestaltet. In der kleinen Kitchenette findet der Gast alles, was er zur Selbstversorgung benötigt. Selbst Kaffee, Tee, Zucker und ein paar Biskuits stehen parat. Vor der Terrasse kann jederzeit gegrillt werden. Ein kleiner beheizbarer Pool lädt zum Erfrischen ein, die angrenzende, geschmackvoll gestaltete Lounge zum Verweilen.

Nicht weit entfernt gibt es verschiedene Restaurants, Supermärkte und kleine Geschäfte. Der Strand und die hohen Dünen sind keine 2 km entfernt. 

Das besondere an dieser Unterkunft aber ist, die Zugewandtheit von Annette und Craig Thorne und deren außergewöhnliche Hilfsbereitschaft, ihren Gästen gegenüber. Gesprochen wird Deutsch, Englisch & Afrikaans.

"Wonderful stop - despite the rain!"

Annette, Craig and eldest son, Jonny, were wonderful hosts. Bad rain meant that kayaking wasn't an option but Annette spent ages answering our questions and making recommendations, even letting us use her lounge for the internet when the weather interfered. 

Our room was lovely, the view was brilliant and the gentle guesthouse dogs kept my boyfriend entertained for hours. We would happily stay again...

From The Anchorage we went to the Garden Route Game Lodge, just 40 minutes up the road, where we got engaged that evening, so The Anchorage and that day will always hold special memories now.
